Ideal Home Description Essay
The first steps onto the property lead to a lavish driveway. There is a huge automated gate in front for privacy. Running parallel to the cream colored concrete driveway are trees on both sides. The large booming trees shade the driveway when it is sunny out. Down the driveway put off to the side is a massive garage. The garage, like the home, is built with brick. Set off to the right, the garage can hold up to five cars. The doors of the garage are a maroon color that matches the window sills of the home. Moving back to the left, walking upon the home, there is a wide porch. It takes five steps to get to the top, and to see two pillars standing guard by the door. The pillars stand short and stocky, colored like ivory pearls. Pushing through the heavy red door with an odd shaped black iron door handle leads to the spacious foyer. Beside the left of the door inside the roomy foyer rests a hefty table to be used for mail and other things from the outside world that do not require immediate attention. To the right there are hooks to hang coats and keys. Also below the hooks is a rack for shoes that sits on a polished wood floor. Moving along through the foyer there is a large expansive staircase. The staircase slightly curves and leads into a hallway of rooms. There are three rooms on each side of the stairs. The first door on the right side of the stairs is brown. The room is painted a very bright green color with auburn carpet. Inside the room there are many toys. There are toys of all kinds; there are stuffed animals, dolls, cards, board games, and more. The door across from the toy room is a little brighter then the others. Walking in this door, there appears to be not much in it. The walls are the color of a soft blue sky with clouds and a nice light brown bamboo floor. It has large expanding windows for the sunlight to easily come in. There are many chairs to lounge in and a few spa chairs in the back corner. There is a closet on the right of the room that is filled with towels, lotions, creams, and etc. Leaving this room, there is one door left at the end of this side. Here is the largest room to explore yet. The walls are a calm and mature dim red like the color of blood. The floors are a dark polished bamboo. There are bright white carvings into the wall that make bookcases. Each wall is lined with them and is stocked with books. In the very back of the room there is a fireplace with a shaggy green rug in front of it. Two narrow long windows stand at the side of the fireplace. There are two brown armchairs spilt by a love couch in the middle of the same color. In the middle of the room, there are also a few low level bookcases filled with books. Leaving this room and entering the first room on the left side of the stairs, there is a full bathroom. The walls are a brilliant blue color with eggshell colored tiles. There is a closet to the left full with toiletries. The his and her sink is an intense red along with the toilet. The shower, which is also a tub, has a stainless steel door. The towel rack on the door holds blue towels that match the blue rug placed in front of the shower. Right between the door and the sink, a woven light brown hamper is placed to throw dirty clothes in. Out of the bathroom and moving along to the room across the hall is a door full of pictures. Inside the room there are vivid golden walls and bamboo flooring. Covering most of the floor is a gigantic purple rug. There is a desk in the top left corner of the room encased with papers and projects. A computer and mouse struggle to stay on top of all the work. Arranged in the right corner is a queen sized bed with a huge mahogany chest in front of it. The ceiling has a glow-in-the-dark universe full with stars and planets. There is one large dresser by the door stuffed with clothes. The closet on the other side is filled with shoes, coats, and dresses. The last room to explore upstairs is also quite massive, but not as giant as the room full of books. It has a queen sized bed in the middle where the floor is elevated. On one side there are two medium sized dressers lining the shady orange wall. On the other is an entertainment system full of the latest gadgets and a flat screen TV. There is a closet spewing clothes and shoes. The floor is tan colored carpet. Going back down the stairs and through the foyer is the kitchen. The kitchen has a large stainless steel refrigerator full of the healthiest and some of the most unhealthiest foods. Next to the refrigerator is a gas oven. There is an island in the middle with three bar stools. In the island there is also a stainless steel sink and cabinets underneath. The cabinets around the kitchen are mahogany colored to set off the pale white walls. They are filled with pots, pans, spices, and food. Also in the kitchen to match most of the house are more bamboo flooring. Through the kitchen to the right is the dining room. A sturdy dinning room table stands center with many chairs encasing it. The room has tan walls and polished dark flooring. There is an abstract arrangement of light fixtures hanging above the table for decoration. There is another bathroom behind the dining room that resembles the previous one mentioned. Back through the kitchen and to the left is the largest room in the house. It is the living room. Full of everything that is in a living room like a fireplace, TV, entertainment system with a stereo, and etc. The walls are a calm green color, and the floors are bamboo. Through the living room going back to the front of the house, there is the master bedroom. It contains a king-sized bed for everyone to crawl into. There are two large dressers, a walk-in closet inside a walk-in closet, and a bathroom that replicates the upstairs bathroom but twice the size. The main difference is the whirlpool hot tub in the far back. The other way through the living room, heading to the back of the house, leads to a patio. The patio holds sitting chairs and is a place to relax. It has a great view of the swimming pool and the enormous backyard. The yard contains a mini play-set with swings, a slide, and a jungle gym. A tree house was built in the far perimeter of the owned land property. There is a bevy of grass area for kids and pets to run around on. Also the tennis and basketball courts are on the far right side of the lawn. Next to the patio there is a spiral staircase that leads to the basement. The basement is a storage area filled with cold concrete flooring and unpainted drywall. It has one small room for guest with just a bed and a small dresser. Next to it is a small bathroom with just a standing shower, a toilet, and a sink which are all pearly white. Going back up the spiral staircase directs to the rear of the home. It illustrates the expansive lifestyle of the owners. Having six rooms upstairs used for multiple purposes, only two being bedrooms, and one a bathroom is a great deal. Along with the large living room, master bedroom, kitchen, and dining room, there are oodles of chores to be kept. Keeping maintenance in the abundant amount of rooms is hard work. Not to mention the total outside area that also needs to be well kept. This is an ideal home for families.

Legislative Initiative
On April 1, 2008, House Bill 2833 entitled Food Security Act passed the Senate Committee on Finance and would only require majority approval in the Senate floor to become a full fledged law (Office of Sen. Rice, 2008). This initiative is the output of the Oklahoma Task Force on Hunger established May last year and aimed at the concretization of its recommendations based on the study regarding the issue.Bartfeld, Dunifon, Nord and Carlson (2006) defined food security as ââ¬Å"the access by all people at all times to enough food for an active and healthy lifeâ⬠(p.4). Reports reveal that Oklahoma ranks fifth among U.S. states currently experiencing high levels of food insecurity and seventh among states with high poverty levels (Oklahoma Task Force on Hunger, p.5, 8). This means that many individuals in the state do not meet the daily required nutritional needs in order to realize their full physical and mental potentials because they can not afford to buy food. From 2003-2006, st udies showed that Oklahomaââ¬â¢s wage and salary employment rates have steadily increased and resulted in remarkable economic growth. The stateââ¬â¢s workforce is concentrated in the retail, health services, accommodations and food services and manufacturing industries as well as in local government and administrative and waste services (Snead and Barta, 2007). However, there are 10 counties which experienced job losses within the period.Improvements in the economy are not equally distributed in the state. Barta and Snead (2007) underscore the observation that ââ¬Å"larger economies have a built in competitive advantage through economies of scale and greater amenities for residents relative to smaller regions and should be expected to outperform smaller regionsâ⬠(p. 3). Thus, out of the stateââ¬â¢s 77 counties, people in the metropolitan areas have higher standards of living than those in the 35 smaller, rural counties mostly located in the northwest region.Hence, a significant number of Oklahoman families in these areas are middle to low income earners and may account for the 14.6% of the population who are hungry or the 17% who are living below the poverty line. They lack the capacity to sufficiently obtain all their needs such as housing, healthcare, education and utilities. Family budgets for food are compromised in order to cover all basic needs. More expensive nutritious foods are replaced by cheaper but unhealthy foods and deprivation results in poor eating habits (Oklahoma Task Force on Hunger, p. 5).The Task Force on Hunger estimated the following: ââ¬Å"a single parent with one school age child living in Tulsa Country needs to earn $13.53 an hour to be economically stable while a single person needs $7.52â⬠(p. 9). However, the stateââ¬â¢s minimum wage is pegged at $5.85 an hour while the costs of basic necessities are quickly and steadily rising. Although jobs are being created, most are temporary as in the manufacturing sec tor, adding job insecurity to low pay.Food insecurity impacts greatly on children. à à à They make up more than a third of the poor population in the state where 1 out of every 5 children potentially experience hunger on a daily basis (Office of Sen. Rice, 2008). Insufficient nutrition affects their physical and mental growth, evidenced in poor school performance, susceptibility to disease and the high obesity rates. According to the Sodexho Foundation findings, these consequences of hunger cause the state to lose $1.4 billion annually (Oklahoma Task Force on Hunger, p. 5).The passing of HB 2833 in the Senate will create the Oklahoma Food Security Committee as the body responsible for its implementation. In the immediate, it seeks to increase the utilization of state welfare food programs and the reach of non-government charitable organizations providing food relief for families and children (Oklahoma Task Force on Hunger, 2007). In the long term, it will address insufficient family income and raise food security levels. The Food Stamp Program currently allows persons to use electronic benefit cards to buy food items with an equivalent of $90 under the Thrifty Food Plan. The Women, Infants and Children Program, on the other hand, provides services such as nutrition education, health care referrals and supplemental food for needy families. The Senior Food Program targets the health, nutrition and social needs of the elderly. School nutrition programs provides for children through free lunches and snacks. In addition, private organizations operate soup kitchens, shelters and food pantries among others. Meanwhile, taxes may be deducted from low income earning families through claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit. Taxes imposed on small farmers in the market may also be lessened through the Sales Tax Credit Relief. Secondary to this, the agricultural sector also needs a boost in order to locally produce adequate food stuffs for the stateââ¬â¢s nutrition n eeds.Through these measures, the Food Security Act will work to increase the amount that families may spend for food and other needs as well as harness all available resources to generate more food supplies. Increase in net income and supporting food relief will decrease the number of families and especially children, who are poor and hungry. This effort will raise the stateââ¬â¢s food security levels towards acceptable levels within the next 5 years.Although, the Food Security Act as a legislative initiative is laudable in its objectives, I think that ultimately, significant change in economic status is the result of secure employment and sufficient pay. If the state should raise its minimum wage, even by a fraction, then that is a concrete step. The state should also complement the existing welfare food programs with similar initiatives in health care and education. This will further reduce the full burden of lower income earners in shouldering the food, school and health care n eeds of their children. The state should also put primacy in allocating funds to sustain these programs.List of ReferencesBartfeld, J., Dunifon, R., Nord, M. and Carlson, S. (2006). Full Day Kindergarten
Full Day Kindergarten; The First Step in a Long, Successful Way of Life. Vera Kuznetsova Public Speaking CALC On September 2010 more than 600 schools across Ontario opened their doors for a new program full-day kindergarten. This project is supposed to help parents to build a better future for their children. Almost every parent has a daydream in which she or he wants to see his or her childââ¬â¢s success. The project of full-day kindergarten can drive this dream to a reality. This program has been approved in the USA and given a significant result; this program became very popular, according to Viadero` and Debra (2005), because it is affordable for families with low income. Today parents in Ontario are given a hope to see children more confident and succeed in their life. On the other hand, this low has the negative aspects; due this program a lot of teachers and day careââ¬â¢s staff have lost their jobs and the schools funds have been reduced. The provincial government invest ed for this program about $13, 500000 taxpayerââ¬â¢s dollars. The impact of full-day kindergarten project gives the new possibilities for children to increase level of knowledge, social participation and quality of life, but it takes away the schoolââ¬â¢s financial support to build up the successful educational process as a whole. And I have a question: ââ¬Å"Is this investment worth in todayââ¬â¢s economical situation or not? â⬠Majority of children, who attend a full-day kindergarten, indicate a huge progress by showing great grades especially in the reading and mathematics skills. The researchers found that ââ¬Å"children in such settings enjoy an academic edge over those in half-day programsâ⬠(Viadero & Debra, 2005).They can easily reach the high level by using extra time. â⬠Many educators and parents of young children believe: Children learn more in full-day kindergarten programs than they do in half-day program. â⬠(Viadero & Debra, 2005). These c hildren stay longer in school compared to the children, who attend half-day kindergarten, so they have extra time to practice and polish learning materials. Second, starting to study from young age has a great advantage, because at this age children have a tremendous ability to observe and absorb new information. ââ¬Å"A seamless day of uninterrupted school gives children the time to explore, discover how hings work for themselves and engage with other children. â⬠(Song, 2010, p. U1). Combining ability observing and absorbing new information with having extra time, when the children can polish learning material they usually get good marks for their assessments and tests. Those children, according to Viodera and Debra (2005) ââ¬Å"on average, the learning gains that pupils make in full-day programs translate to about a month of additional schooling over the course of a school yearâ⬠. Having enough time is increasing chances to get better marks and keep up with studying a nd improving their goals. The children, who are enrolled in full day kindergarten, have very good social skills. First of all, they have to be in the big group of children from very young age. Children have to learn how make friends, build relationships, and keep them. Those children also learn how to solve big and small issues and problems; they learn how to make concessions and compromises. ââ¬Å"Children love to learn and thrive in an atmosphere where the only concern of the adult in their day is that they are successful and feel good about themselvesâ⬠. (McClean,2010).They have an opportunity learning from adult; parents and educators can collaborate and teach the children how to communicate with each other and how to manage and come up with the same decision, which was chosen by a group of children. Having some knowledge about how to communicate, solve the problems is one of the characteristic of leader. Those children can build their leadership skills, because they spend a lot of time together; so they are becoming well-know very quickly. Song(2010) in his publication said that children at the age 4 or 5 are already prepared to enjoy the company with partners and mates. When children feel more confident and successful they are more active in social life of community. Participation in social life can be a step on the long way to success. Full-day kindergarten gives for children an opportunity to build a new life style, because parents can earn and save a lot of money. â⬠Proponents say the day-long school program will let more parents upgrade job skills or work outside the home, while saving others the hassle of living work in the middle of the day to shuttle kids from school to childcareâ⬠( Pearson,2010).Parents will be able to have a better well-paid job, so they will make more money. They also will save a lot of money because they do not have to pay for childcare or babysitter. They can channel this money to different needs such as school supply material or enroll kids to different after school program and activities. Cost of post-secondary education grows up every year; putting extra-money in an educational fund will be paid a price in the near future. Children will have a chance to get diploma without debt or the debt will be paid off very quickly.Parents can make living their children more comfortable and relax. They can use savings on vacation and different activities. Having enough money avoids many problems; so fewer problems equal less stress. Money can change childrenââ¬â¢s life style. Supporters of half-day kindergarten asset that starting school life in very young age could be profitless, because when children stay longer day in school they can get bored and they cannot get their education without debt and they also could be egoistic. However, it is not true. According to Song (2010), children are able to study from young age.Using different methods helps make learning more effective and interesting. Le arning cannot be boring; how can some new thing be boring. Staying longer in big group of children provokes to communicate; ability to communicate built outgoing person. Even though cost of post-secondary education is not small amount of money it can less for children, who can have a scholarship because they will have great grades and they can also use money from different educational funds where parents had put money when children were little. All those factors give only positive points of view letââ¬â¢s take a look for the negative spots as well. There are not secrets that so many employees lost their jobs; how we can be positive about the future those teachers, what they have to do and how they have to live and support their families when there is a shortage of job positions availability. How they have to survive in this economical state. There is not doubt that putting the enormous amount of money for the program which might or might not be successful for Ontario was very risk y and unsafe. It might be more appropriate in the different time when government has enough assets to start this program; not today. There another fact such as long-term supports schools; due this law schools funds have been cut down. Schools do not provide any more school supplies such as graph paper and any other material that are needed during the educational process. There are not available after school activities any more; no more sport activities. As well full day kindergarten require more physical space; the little children have to have the space; space to play, space to sleep, so in many cases schools have to build the additional portables; and his is additional capital that will be pulled out from ours pockets. Building a new life style, communicational skills, and successful academicals grades could be one of the results of full-day kindergarten and financial deficit might be another a new educational program in Ontario. This project could be feasible; so future of our chil dren could be better and without worry. â⬠Children who attend full-day kindergarten tend to be less advantaged, socially, economically and academically, than their peers in half-day programsâ⬠(Viadero & Debra, 2005, p. 1-16. ).Even though this project took start very quickly with poor support; it will be huge revolution in Ontarioââ¬â¢s educational system in the next 4 or 5 years from today, according to Rushowy (2010). Sam Hammond says: ââ¬Å"This is huge thing for Ontario. We are pleased that the government put this forward even a time of economical concernâ⬠(as cited Rushowy, 2010). This provincial regulation puts a lot of faith in children, their innate interest in learning and in their intelligence. Having a proper and solid fundament is the first step on the long, successful way of life. All those factors give only positive points letââ¬â¢s take a look for the negative spots as well. There are not secrets that so many employees lost their jobs; how we c an be positive about the future those teachers, what they have to do and how they have to live and support their families when there is a shortage of job positions availability. How they have to survive in this economical state. There is not doubt that putting the enormous amount of money for the program which might not be successful for Ontario it is very risky REFERENCES Song, V. , (2010). Toronto Star, Ont. : Sep 2, 2010. A governing body Essay Example for Free
A governing body Essay Choose cite format: APA MLA Harvard Chicago ASA IEEE AMA Haven't found the essay you want? Get your custom sample essay for only $13.90/page ? A governing body is eminent in every populace. Although the governing bodies of the United States and Sweden are both administered by Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches, the role they play in the politics of their respective countries differs greatly. Both countries are subject to laws set forth by age-old constitutions. There is also variance in the number of representative parties for the population of each country. It is important to look at the age of the country and its influence on the government. The period of time in which countries are founded is very important in showing why certain countries have the institutions that they do. The early Swedish government was formed by aristocrats who nominated a king that used his rule to influence religion. This aspect of Swedenââ¬â¢s political history differs from that of the U. S. , which was founded hundreds of years later to be ruled by representation. U. S. Government The United States is the worldââ¬â¢s oldest representative democracy. The government is regulated by a system of checks and balances defined by the Constitution. Citizens are subject to three levels of government: federal, state, and local levels; most areas are subject to multiple local governments, such as county or metropolitan governments in addition to municipal government. The federal government is comprised of three branches, which are designed to check and balance one anotherââ¬â¢s powers. The Legislative branch is made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives, which makes federal law, declares war, approves treaties, and has the power of making decisions regarding the budget and taxation, also known as ââ¬Å"Power of the Purse. â⬠The Executive branch is comprised of the President, who appoints, with Senate approval, the Cabinet and other officers. The Cabinet administers and enforces federal laws. The president is also Commander-in-Chief of the military. The Judicial branch is the Supreme Court and lower federal courts, whose judges are appointed by the President with Senate approval. The Judicial branch interprets laws and can overturn laws they deem unconstitutional. The United States Constitution is the supreme legal document that governs the American system. The document is considered a social contract for the people of the United States, regulating their affairs through government chosen by and populated by the people. All laws and procedures of both state and federal governments are subject to review, and any law ruled by the Judicial branch to be in violation of the Constitution can be overturned. The Constitution can be amended by two methods, both of which require the approval of three-fourths of the states. Officials at all three levels are either elected by voters in a secret ballot or appointed by other elected officials. Executive and legislative offices are decided by a plurality vote of citizens in their districts. Judicial and cabinet-level offices are nominated by the Executive branch and approved by the Legislature in the federal government and most states, although some state judges are elected by popular vote. American politics is dominated by the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. Members of these two parties hold the majority of elected offices across the country at federal, state, and lower levels. Independent or third party candidates tend to do better in lower-level elections; however, there are currently two independent members of the Senate. Within American political culture, the Republican Party is considered conservative and the Democratic Party is considered liberal. Swedish Politics Information published by Nations Encyclopedia advises Sweden is a constitutional monarchy, of which King Carl XVI Gustaf is currently the head of state, but royal power is limited to official and ceremonial functions. The nationââ¬â¢s modern legislative body is the Swedish Parliament, also known as Riksdag, with 349 members, which chooses the Prime Minister. The Riksdag holds supreme authority in modern Sweden. The Riksdag is responsible for choosing the Prime Minister, who then appoints the ministers. The legislative power is then shared between the parliament and the Prime Minister-led government. The executive power is exercised by the government, while the Judiciary, unlike that of the United States is independent. Swedenââ¬â¢s judiciary system also lacks the ability to review laws that may be in violation of the constitution. Acts of the parliament and government decrees can be made inapplicable at every level if they are against constitutional laws. Legislation may be initiated by the Cabinet or by members of Parliament. Members are elected on the basis of proportional representation, or full representation versus the plurality voting system used in the U. S. The Constitution of Sweden can be altered by the Riksdag, which requires an absolute majority and two decisions with general elections in between. Since 1932, the Cabinets have been dominated by the Social Democrats. The following political parties currently hold seats in the Riksdag: Social Democrats, Moderates, Centre Party, Liberal Peopleââ¬â¢s Party, Christian Democrats, Left Party, and Greens. There are six other parties, however, they do not currently hold any of the seats of the Riksdag. The six parties are: Swedish Democrats, Feminist Initiative, The Pirate Party, June List, The Health Care Party, and National Democrats. Religious and Cultural Aspects of Government Historicizing the formation of the Swedish government is to review the affects of aristocracy on government and government on religion. In the middle ages, struggle for power between powerful families and Great Men, also known as Stormannen, caused politically unstable situations. Sweden was a kingdom where the king was elected by members of a council of aristocrats; therefore, the throne was not inherited. The presence of powerful Great Men and chiefs meant that the kingââ¬â¢s influence was often quite limited. His political and fiscal control over the country depended upon support from the aristocracy. During the late Middle Ages political anarchy came about in Sweden. Constant struggle for power between a number of families and the Danish King Kristian II ended in the Bloodbath of Stockholm in the early 1500s. The result of this struggle enabled Gustav Vasa to become king in 1521. The most important reform Gustav Vasa made was the reformation of the Church. ââ¬Å"The king was able to gain political control, as well as control the property of the Church, all Swedes suddenly became Protestants instead of Catholicsâ⬠(History World, 2007). This made it possible for the king to establish himself, not the Pope, as head of the Church, and also to use the Church as a pedagogic tool on the people according to History World. Because everyone had to attend church on Sundays, the state could reach almost the entire populace with information, propaganda, and a certain amount of education. The Bible was, for instance, translated from Latin to Swedish during this time. This had a positive impact on literacy among the ordinary people. In the United States, the formation of the government was influenced by agenda and innovationists rather than religion or how politics could influence religion. ââ¬Å"Our Founding Fathers were not known to practice Christian orthodoxyâ⬠(White House, 2007). Although they supported the free exercise of any religion, they believed there could be dangers in incorporating a religion into the creation of a government to serve all people. Most of them believed in deism and attended Freemasonry lodges. According to John J. Robinson, ââ¬Å"Freemasonry had been a powerful force for religious freedomâ⬠(Free Masons, 2007). Freemasons took seriously the principle that men should worship according to their own conscious. Masonry welcomed anyone from any religion or non-religion, as long as they believed in a Supreme Being. Washington, Franklin, Hancock, Hamilton, Lafayette, and many others accepted Freemasonry. According to the Free Masonry Organization, in order to be a Free Mason, one must believe in the existence of a ââ¬Å"Supreme Being,â⬠which includes the ââ¬Å"godsâ⬠of Islam, Hinduism, or any other world religion. Although many believe the anti-Biblical and anti-Christian beliefs and practices of this organization are partially hidden beneath an outward appearance of a supposed compatibility with the Christian faith, the organization supports every religion. The influence of a non-uniform Christian society on the U. S. government was probably due to the combinations of cultures and backgrounds of the individuals making up the fairly new society. The compilation of cultures that continues to make up U. S. society varies greatly from those of the Swedish culture at the time their government was developed. Sweden was a very old country; therefore, the majority of the inhabitants had lived there most, if not all, of their lives. The governments of the United States and Sweden both represent their diverse populations through their respective governments. The greatest variance in the way branches operate is in the Judicial system. In the United States, the Judicial System ensures that laws are upheld and amended to meet changing times without going against the Constitution. The Swedish Judicial branch lacks the ability to review laws that may be against their constitution. A governing body. (2017, Mar 02).

The product choosing is restricted to about four thousand items within the broader variety of classifications (Thompson, 2008). Nevertheless, the business strives at increasing the number of options through the incorporation of subsidiary businesses. Despite all the efforts Costco applies, other clients might opt to purchase smaller quantities of the enterprise products. However, the business treats such losses as ââ¬Ëcleverââ¬â¢ loses in sales since they tend to intelligently out-do the business targets in limited perspectives. The hunt of treasure in merchandising includes a continually alternating choosing of about one thousand lavishness brands available for consumers. The luxury brands are meant to attract the shopkeepers and lead them into spending beyond their initial budgets and intentions through the provision of appealing deals. Costco attains effective treasure hunt through obtaining purchases from grey markets, for instance, the wholesalers or the perplexed retailers instead of the original producers. Theref ore, the question on the effectiveness of the strategy can receiveà feedback that the feedback that the strategy is suitable (Thompson, 2008). I think Jim Sinegal is an effective CEO of the Costco Company. Jim is a level five leader who has led the company into a series of success in the United States and the world at large. The CEO has enabled the business to achieve a significant reputation in the global scope. Costco is the forth-best company in United States and the sixth best in the world. No company can rank such highly with poor management and leadership. Jim Sinegal has achieved this splendid performance through promoting favorable environments to the company workers and enhancing the company advertisement activities (Thompson, 2008). The CEO hold the record of visiting twelve warehouses in one day and the total number of the stores he physically attends to in a day ranges from eight to ten. Thus, in spite of Jim being ranked amongst the best CEOs, he considers the origin of the companyââ¬â¢s wealth. The enterprise is performing well fiscally according to the financial information provided in the table and the report. What impact has the division of the Korean peninsula had on the Essay
What impact has the division of the Korean peninsula had on the development of the two Koreas - Essay Example Based on an image taken by the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) of the US (United States) Department of Defense, the Korean peninsula is aptly described in contrasting terms: ââ¬Å"South Korea is bright, North Korea is darkâ⬠(GlobalSecurity.org). Such imagery is a reflection of the development of the divided Korean peninsula: North Korea in the grip of communism and dictatorship and South Korea at the frontiers of democracy and progress. After the surrender of Japan on August 14, 1945, the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) and the US occupied the Korean peninsula north and south of the thirty-eighth parallel, respectively (Wheeling Jesuit University). In 1948, the Democratic Peopleââ¬â¢s Republic of Korea was established in the USSR-occupied North while the Republic of Korea was established in the US-occupied South. The succeeding Korean War, started in 1950, formalized the rift between the two states (Feffer). An armistice was finally declared in 195 3, with the two states still holding their original territories. Due to decades of division, the two Koreas undertook diverging paths of development and achieved different levels of success. In terms of economic development, dark North Korea is facing poverty and food shortage whereas bright South Korea is ââ¬Å"one of the worldââ¬â¢s major economies and a leading exporter of cars and electronic goodsâ⬠(BBC ââ¬Å"Overviewâ⬠). The Central Intelligence Agency states, ââ¬Å"North Korea, one of the world's most centrally directed and least open economies, faces chronic economic problems " (Central Intelligence Agency "Economy - Korea, North"). On the other hand, the CIA asserts, "South Korea has achieved an incredible record of growth and integration into the high-tech modern world economy" (Central Intelligence Agency "Economy - Korea, South"). The 2007 estimate of the GDP per capita of North Korea was pegged at $1,900 whereas that of South Korea was pegged at $24,600. These differences can be explained by the ways the two Koreas handled their post-war economies. Typical of communism wherein there is state ownership of all production, the North implements a central planning economy (Kwak). Consequently, the government has a hand in every economic activity. The North subscribes to three fundamental principles: "the construction of independent native economy, the heavy and munitions industries first policy, and the advance of military and economy side by side" (Hwang). Today, the Northern state still operates a closed economy to protect its political ideology. South Korea, on the other hand, employs a market economy, which has resulted to urbanization, industrialization and rapid economic growth (Kwak). Hwang adds that planned capitalism, wherein "the government plans the allocation of resources but gives [the] individual the private ownership of capital", also readily contributed to the economic progress. The government supported the expansion of family-owned industries called "chaebol", examples of which are Hyundai and Samsung (BBC "Overview "). As predicted, these business conglomerates became the frontrunners of the booming South Korean economy. Politically, North Korea maintains a communist stance whereas South Korea adheres to democratic principles. Marxism-Leninism is the type of communism adapted by North Korea (Hwang). Kim Il-sung, the first head and considered the "Eternal president" of the North Korean government, promoted "Juche" - a political philosophy of self-reliance, which has become the foundation of the state's development (BBC "Overview"). Hwang states that Juche is actually brainwashing politics. From the fundamental concept that the human is the master of everything, Il-sung was able to justify an external closed-door policy and an internal dictatorship and hereditary succession (Hwang). The entire Northern state was militarized under the auspices of national defense. Hwang asserts that this caused a major breach between the North and South relations since South Korea seeks to unify through

Apart from that, nearly every construction business essentially bears an association with real estate. (Real Estate: Wikipedia) Of late several economists have overlooked the fact that absence of effective real estate laws can impede investment in a lot of development nations. In almost every society, cutting across economic conditions, a considerable proportion of the net wealth is held in the form of land and buildings. In the most developed economies, the primary source of capital used by individuals and small companies to buy and make improvements in land and buildings is through mortgages in which the real property forms the collateral. The banks are ready to extend such loans at convenient rates in major part, since in case the borrower fails in making payment, the lender can make a foreclose which implies that, it can file a case, to take possession and sell it to obtain money. (Legal Encyclopedia: Real Estate) The fundamental concept forming the basis for real property laws are uniform across the US. Nevertheless, a lot of differences in the application of these concepts among the states as also among the counties and cities within the states are found. Freehold Estate constitutes the first category of ownership under the Real Estate Agency law. The idea of estates in the American laws emerged from the feudal system in England. Estates in land are interests that are currently or might become possessory and which are measured by time frame. Possessory estates confer the holder the right to immediate possession. Realty estates are further classified as freehold and non-freehold. While freehold estates go on for an indefinite period or until the happening of certain event, non-freehold estates terminate on a specific date. (Overview of Real Property Law in the United States) The largest estate that is allowed under the provisions of law is the fee simple absolute in which the holder of this estate possesses complete possessory privileges at present and in the future for an indefinite period. No restrictions on its inheritability are present, it cannot be divested and it will not terminate on the occurrence of any event. But, the holder of the estate can sell it or any portion of it during the period of his lifespan and make a will prior to his death for disposal of the property. The other possessory estates are Fee Simple Determinable that suggests a fee simple however restricts the use of the land.
